If you live in Chorlton and you're booking a trip abroad, you don't need to trek into the city centre for your travel vaccines. We're a small, neighbourly pharmacy team in Urmston, a short hop to the west of you across the river, and we look after travellers from Chorlton, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Whalley Range and the surrounding south-Manchester streets all the time.
Getting here from Chorlton is easy — you're heading out towards Stretford and the Trafford side of the city, and we're just beyond, off Canterbury Road in Urmston. There's parking close by, no city-centre traffic to battle, and a pharmacist who'll take the time to talk you through exactly what you need.
Popular travel vaccines
We offer the full range — here are some of the most requested.
Yellow fever
Required for parts of Africa and South America, and often needed for entry — we're a registered yellow fever centre.
Hepatitis A
One of the most common travel jabs, protecting against a food- and water-borne infection.
Typhoid
Worth having for many trips to Asia, Africa and parts of South America.
Rabies
Given as a short course — sensible for remote travel or anywhere far from good medical care.
Tetanus, diphtheria & polio
A good chance to top up your routine booster before you head off.
Getting to us from Chorlton
From Chorlton you're looking just to the west, across the Mersey towards Trafford. Head out through Stretford and on towards Urmston, and you'll find us at Davyhulme Pharmacy, 179-181 Canterbury Road, M41 0SE. If you'd rather drive, we're handily placed for the M60 (junctions 9 and 10) and only a few minutes from the Trafford Centre side of things. There's parking nearby, so it's an easy in-and-out compared with going into town.
Coming by tram or train
Chorlton has its own Metrolink stop, and Urmston rail station is a short walk from the pharmacy if you fancy taking the train. If you're driving instead, the run over from Chorlton is quick once you're past Stretford — no parking meters or one-way systems to wrestle with, which is half the reason people from your side of the river come to us.
What to expect at your appointment
Tell us where you're going, for how long, and what you'll be up to, and our pharmacist will talk you through which vaccines are worth having and whether you need antimalarial tablets. Most people can have their jabs in the same visit, so it's usually one trip over from Chorlton and you're sorted. For longer or more adventurous trips, it's worth coming in a few weeks ahead as some vaccines are given as a course.
